Scott
With a background in Scripture engagement ministry in Africa, Scott understands from firsthand experience the importance of connecting well with people —and that building bridges of trust and respect are important in ultra challenging situations. “I love that the storyweaving approach to evangelism and discipleship encourages us to listen to other people’s stories first, to know them as individuals.”
As further evidence of the importance of that, Scott says, “Various storyweavers have shared that when people feel heard, it tends to cause them to be more open to hearing a story from the Bible about God and what he might be saying to them about their situation. There is so much cynicism, anxiety, anger, and personal trauma in the world, and people are longing for hope and for real solutions to their problems. Many people are open to harmful beliefs and practices because they don’t know that there is a God who deeply cares for them. We can help them to come to realize that through our own story of what God has done in our life, and then most importantly, what they can discover in Scripture of his character and what He has done for them.”
Scott came to the Storyweavers Global team on assignment from Wycliffe Bible Translators. This was the first time that a cross-organizational personnel assignment had taken place from Wycliffe to Storyweavers Global as a result of the Staff Sharing Agreement between these two organizations which share a common interest in Scripture engagement.
Scott serves in a dual primary role on the storyweavers team —as a Freedom Ascent developer and group leader, and as a Communications and Media Developer. All of this fits well with his background as an ethnoarts Scripture engagement worker in Africa. Scott has a Masters degree in World Arts, and an undergraduate degree was in Anthropology and Studio Art.
